The Lee Hsun Lecture Award winner, Prof. Peijun Hu from Dept of Chemistry, the Queen’s University of Belfast UK visited IMR from Aug. 13-17, 2006.

Prof. Hu received the Lee Hsun Lecture Award at a ceremony hold by Prof. Hengqiang Ye, the former Director of IMR in the afternoon of Aug. 15, after the ceremony，Prof. Hu delivered a lecture entitled: Interface chemistry of metal/oxide: A density functional theory study. During his visit, he had individual discussion with Prof. Ye, and scientists in solid atomic imaging division, both sides agree to promote co-operation and plan to apply a new project on “First-principles study on the oxidation mechanism of iron under moist environment”. Recently Prof. Hu’s research group did excellent work on oxidation mechanism under water environment.

Prof. Hu obtained his Ph.D from the University of Cambridge UK in 1993; from 1993 to 1995 he was Post-Doctoral Research Associate at University of Cambridge; 1995 Prof. Hu jointed to the Queen’s University of Belfast as Lecture, and 2004 he was appointed as Professor. His research fields are mainly on physics chemistry, and published more than 80 papers (including 2 in Nature) and 42 invited presentation on international conference or symposium.
