The 8th SYNL Annual Graduate Student Symposium was held on October 30, 2009, at the Education Building of the IMR. Nine graduate students from the different divisions in the SYNL gave lectures to present their research progress. More than 100 participants attended the symposium.

The first SYNL Graduate Student Symposium was held in 2002. Now it has become one of the important SYNL annual seminars. Its purpose is to promote interdisciplinary academic exchange and collaboration and to improve the academic level and the quality of graduate students in the SYNL.
