Prof. Tatsuki Ohji the Prime Senior Research Scientist, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan, the awardees of 2011 Lee Hsun Lecture Award was invited to visit IMR from Sep.12-15, 2010.
In the morning of Sep. 13, Prof. Ohji delivered a lecture entitled as:Microstructural Design of Porous Ceramics for Unique Mechanical Properties. Before the lecture, Prof. CHENG Huiming, the Deputy Director of IMR, presented the Plaque of Lee Hsun Lecture Award to Prof. Ohji. During his visit in IMR, Prof. Ohji visited SYNL and had a discussion with the High-performance Ceramic Division, IMR.
Prof. Ohji got his PhD in Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. He has a wide research interests including mechanical property characterization of ceramics, ceramic composites and porous materials, microstructural design of advanced ceramic materials for better performance, meso – macro porous/nano array structure controls of oxide ceramics thin films and green manufacturing of ceramic components. He has published more than 300 journal papers, books: 7 (Author), 14 (Editor), and patents: 37 (Domestic), 5 (oversea). He was awarded a number of awards offered by academic associations, including: IIM Lectureship Award, ASM International, Fellow of the American Ceramic Society and Academician of the World Academy of Ceramics, etc.
