At the invitation of Institute of Metal Research (IMR), Prof. C.A.Schuh, the chairman of Department of Materials Science and Engineering, at MIT, visited IMR on Nov. 7-11, 2011, as a recipient of the 2011 Lee Hsun Young Scientist Lecture Award. During the visit, Prof. CHENG Huiming, the Deputy Director of IMR and Prof. YANG Rui, the Deputy Director of IMR, had a meeting with Prof. C.A.Schuh respectively. Prof.CHENG Huiming presented the plaque of the 2011 Lee Hsun Young Scientist Lecture Award to Prof. C.A.Schuh. Subsequently Prof. C.A.Schuh delivered a lecture entitled “Design and Deployment of Alloy Coatings with Stabilized Nanocrystalline Structures”. During the lecture, Prof. C.A.Schuh gave wonderful answers to the audience‘s questions. Prof. C.A.Schuh also visited the Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science (SYNL), and had an academic discussion with many researchers in the relevant fields.
As Prof. C.A.Schuh is the chairman of Department of Materials Science and Engineering, at MIT, his main research areas include Mechanical Metallurgy, Microstructure Design, Grain and Grain Boundary Engineering, Nano Coating, etc. He has had more than 120 papers published on SCI, 24 papers published on International Conferences, has had 8 books published and also has 13 patents. Between 2002 and 2011, Prof. C.A.Schuh has given more than 100 invited reports at various institutions around the world.
