Effective in January 2012, Prof. LU Ke, Director of Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science and Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, becomes an editor of Progress in Materials Science, an international review journal published by Elsevier. The journal, started in 1949, publishes authoritative reviews of recent advances in science of materials and their exploitation in engineering. As one of the most influential journals in the field of materials science and engineering, its 5-year impact factor is 23.719. Five editors serve for this journal: E. Arzt (Germany), T.B. Massalski (USA), B. Cantor (UK), T. Mori (Japan) and K. Lu (China).
