At the invitation of the Institute of Metal Research (IMR), Prof. Sang-Wook Cheong, from the Rutgers University, visited IMR from Jul. 15th to Jul. 23rd, as a recipient of 2012 Lee Hsun Research Award.
During the visit, Prof. Sang-Wook Cheong delivered series of lectures entitled “Multiferroics”. Before the lecture on Jul.17th, Prof. CHENG Huiming, the Deputy Director of IMR, presented the plaque of Lee Hsun Research Award to Prof. Sang-Wook Cheong. The attractive lectures were met with enthusiastic response. After the lectures, Prof. Sang-Wook Cheong answered the audience’s questions and had academic discussion with many researchers of the Magnetism and Magnetic Materials Division.
Prof. Sang-Wook Cheong is a famous international materials physicist, and leads the international academic hot spot on the physical properties of perovskite oxide for many times. He had published more than 550 SCI papers, including Nature (8), Science (2), Nature Materials (4), Phys. Rev. Lett. (101) and Phys. Rev. B (194). The total citation is more than 28,000 times and h-index is 85. Prof. Sang-Wook Cheong got the James C. McGroddy Prize for New Materials in 2010, and is the editorial board of Physical Review Letters – Divisional Associated Editor. He is also the Fellow of the American Physical Society.
