At the invitation of the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS), Prof. Richard A. Portier, from Chimie Paris Tech, visited IMR from Apr.1st to Apr. 7th and conducted academic exchanges, as a recipient of 2012 Lee Hsun Research Award, accompanied by Dr. Prima from Chimie Paris Tech.
Prof. Richard A. Portier, a well-acknowledged scientist in the field of alloy materials and electron microscopy, is mainly engaged in researches of advanced micro-characterization technology and theory, quasicrystals, solid-state phase transformation and advanced alloy materials. He has made remarkable contributions to the fields of convergent beam diffraction, kinetic theory, reconstructive and displacement-based phase transition, complex alloy’s micro-structural evolution behavior etc. During the visit, Prof. Portier delivered a lecture for our research staff and graduates titled “Unexpected Constrained Twin Hierarchy in Ru-based High Temperature Shape Memory Alloys Marten site”. Before the lecture, Prof. YANG Rui, the director of IMR, presented the plaque of Lee Hsun Research Awards to Prof. Portier. The awarding ceremony and lecture followed was presided over by Prof. ZHANG Jian, the deputy director of IMR. After the lecture，Prof. Portier formed a deep discussion with our research staff basic on common interest. Prof. Portier keeps a great cooperative partnership with IMR, especially with Engineering Alloys Division which has collaboratively published quite a few papers with him. During this visit, Prof. Portier had wide academic exchanges with our researchers. They also had concluded the previous collaborative activities and made a future cooperation plan.
Prof. Richard A. Portier is the Emeritus Professor of Chimie ParisTech, and the Eminent Scholar of French National Center for Scientific Research now. He was the vice president of the French National University Community, the president of Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique and the president of the French Elecnon Microscopy Society. He has published more than 270 papers on academic journals including Nature. He also has organized, performed as the chairman and gave invited lectures in numerous international conferences.
