Dr. WU Dongyang, the Vice President of Boeing Research﹠Technology China, Mr. William Lyons, the Director of Global Research﹠Development Strategy of Boeing Company, Ms. Lee A. Warner, Vice President of China Strategy Integration, etc., visited IMR on 14th August. The Boeing group investigated the research activities in IM as well as the progress of the bilateral joint projects.
Prof. ZHANG Jian, the deputy Director of IMR, Prof. HAN Enhou, the Director of Environmental Corrosion Center, Prof. YANG Ke, the Director of Specialized Materials and Devices Division, and other research staff who are working on the joint project, attended the meetingwith Boeing group. Prof. Zhang, in the beginning, made an introduction on the basic information, key research area, achievement and international cooperation in IMR. Prof. Han and Prof. Yang gave reports on the joint projects of magnesium alloy and ultra high strength maraging stainless steel, respectively. In the meeting, a deep discussion was made about the processing of high strength magnesium alloy, maraging steel, etc. Boeing and IMR has made an cooperation agreement on high strength magnesium alloy sheet and ultra high strength maraging stainless steel in May 2013. This visit was a process of evaluation on the cooperation. The group was much satisfied with the progress and showed a willing to promote the further cooperation between two parties, which lays a solid foundation of the project and promotes the commercialization of research outputs.
Afterwards, the group visited Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science and highly spoke the research strength of IMR.
