In Oct. 16th 2014, Mr. Jonathan Meyer, manager of Additive Manufacturing, Mr. Dale king, senior manager of the Emerging Technology Concept from Airbus, Mr. LI Fei, Department of Industrial Cooperation of Airbus-China and Prof. Mike Loretto from University of Birmingham visited the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS).
Prof. YANG Rui, Director of IMR, introduced the research activities in IMR, and Mr. Meyer reported the strategic analysis of the business pattern, supply chain and composite cost in additive manufacturing. The progress of Ti alloy powder and the work that meet varies types additive manufacturing application are also discussed.
Delegates from IMR, Airbus and University of Birmingham discussed the cooperation prospect and topic under the frame of Horizon 2020: China-EU Aviation Cooperation. Furthermore, they probed into the prospect of new type of magnesium alloy applied in aviation with Prof. HAN Enhou and Prof. CHEN Rongshi of Environmental Corrosion Research Center, IMR.
