On 17th Nov. 2014, Prof. Max Lu, member of IMR, CAS Visiting professorships and awardee of China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award, won the inaugural Australia-China Council Achievement Awards for his tireless work to develop, improve and grow the bilateral education and science relationship.
The award was honored at a dinner in Canberra attended by President Xi Jinping and Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott. This new national awards program celebrated individuals, organizations and groups who advanced Australia-China relations in the arts, entrepreneurship and education with no more than 3 winners each year.
Prof. Lu has cooperated with Advanced Carbon Division, IMR in the research of clean energy materials since 2003. They not only jointly undertook many relevant projects from National Natural Science Foundation (NSFC), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Australia Research Council (ARC) and Queensland Government, but also supervised students, published over 80 papers and obtained patents both in China and Australia. Due to the remarkable cooperation, IMR recommended Prof. Lu for China International Science and Technology Award and Chinese Academy of Sciences International Co-operation Award.
