The recipient of 2015 LEE Hsun Lecture Series - LEE Hsun Lecture Award, Prof. Yury Gogotsi of Drexel University visited Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS) from 4 to 6 November.
During the visit, Prof. Yury Gogotsi gave a lecture entitled “MXenes: Expanding the World of Two-Dimensional Materials”, and made a lab tour to High-performance Ceramics Division, Advanced Carbon Division and Technical Support Division of Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Sciences. He also discussed with the scientists and graduate students from Advanced Carbon Division,High-performance Ceramics Division, and Catalysis and Energy Materials Division.
Prof. Yury Gogotsi is the Director of A.J. Drexel Nanomaterials Institute. His research group mainly forcuses on the research of new nanostructured materials and 2D layered ceramic materials. He made a great contribution in water desalination, capacitive deionization, energy storage battery and supercapacitor etc.. Prof. Yury Gogosti also made a breakthrough in the research of supercapacitor structure-property relationships to promote the development of new supercapacitors with more efficient storage and application. He is the first person who striped the layered MAX phase ceramics into 2D materials, so called MXenes, and he was listed by Thomson Reuters as “World's Most Influential Minds”. Prof. Yury Gogosti has honored as much as 35 international awards like European Carbon Association Award and Highly Cited Researcher.
