The recipient of 2015 Lee Hsun Lecture Series—Lee Hsun Research Award, Prof. Hermenegildo Garcia from Technical University of Valencia, Spain visited Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS) from June 20 to 28, 2016.
During the visit, Prof. Hermenegildo Garcia delivered a lecture entitled “Graphenes as metal-free or metal containing (photo) Catalysts”. He introduced a new procedure for defective graphene films preparation with semiconducting properties for overall water splitting in the absence of sacrificial electron donor or for CO2; reduction in the presentation.
Prof. Hermenegildo Garcia has been active in the field of photochemistry and heterogeneous catalysis where he has applied materials such as carbon nanotubes, diamond nanoparticles and metal Organic frameworks among others. García has published over 450 papers in scientific journals of the area of Chemistry, Materials and Environment. He has filed over 25 patents, from which one is under used and two more in pre-industrial stage. He has given over 40 plenary and invited talks and is member of the advisory board of Energy and Environmental Science, Photochemical and Photobiological Science and Journal of Molecular Catalysis.
