The recipient of 2017 Lee Hsun Lecture Series—Lee Hsun Lecture Award, Prof. Harald Rose from Ulm University, Germany visited Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS) from April 24 to 27, 2017.
During the visit, Prof. Harald Rose gave a lecture entitled “From Micrometer to Sub-Angstroem Resolution – the Development of the Electron Microscope”. He demonstrated the development of electron microscope and aberration correction in his lecture.
Prof. Harald Rose is in advisory capacity for Corrected Electron Optical Systems (CEOS). He has been devoted to the research activities in theoretical electron optics, especially aberration correction, theory of electron scattering and image formation in EM for more than half a century.
He has published more than 200 reviewed articles in scientific journals, 10 major review articles and is inventor of 105 patents on scientific instruments and electron optical components partly manufactured by various companies. He has received numerous awards including the Wolf Prize in 2011for his tremendous contribution to the research of theoretical electron optics.
