A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS) and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

Oliver Kraft, the vice-president of KIT visited IMR on May 26, 2017. He signed the memorandum on behalf of KIT with Prof. YANG Rui, the Director of IMR. He also conducted academic exchanges with Prof. ZHANG Guangping and Prof. JIN Haijun.

KIT is one of the leading institutions of research and higher education in natural sciences and engineering in Europe. IMR and KIT have been in a cordial cooperation for years in the field of material sciences and engineering. Researchers from both parties undertake international projects and train numerous graduates cooperatively.
