The 31st SYNL Colloquium on Mechanical Behaviors of Materials was held on July 14, 2017 in Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS).
Associate Prof. JIANG Minqiang from Institute of Machanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences attended the Colloquium and delivered a lecture entitled “Amorphous plasticity: from free volume to shear transformation”. He reviewed the recent progress on the research of amorphous plasticity from the aspect of theory and experiment. He introduced that the constitutive model of amorphous plasticity is built to reproduce all kinds of plastic behaviors in amorphous solid. And the Free volume content in the amorphous shear band can be predicted according to the experiments.
Three other reports were also delivered on the colloquium entitled “Understanding the shear band-mediated failure and plasticity in metallic glass”, “Fracture behavior of bulk nanostructured Cu with nanoscale deformation twins” and “Influence of cell shape on fatigue behavior of Ti–6Al–4V meshes fabricated by electron beam melting method” by Associate Prof. QU Ruitao, doctoral student LUO Shusen and ZHAO Shuo of IMR.
The SYNL Colloquium on Mechanical Behaviors of Materials is a major academic lecture series of Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science (SYNL), IMR, CAS. Numerous scientists from home and abroad attend the colloquium annually. It has been held 31 times since 2010.
