At a recent general assembly of Asian Pacific Academy of Materials (APAM) held at Tohoku University, Japan, Prof. HAN Enhou from the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS) was elected as APAM President.
Established in 1992, APAM is a voluntary non-governmental institution aiming at promoting free exchanges of research and development in the field of materials research through international cooperation. It brings together individuals as members who are recognized as outstanding specialists in material science and technology who have made significant contributions to cooperation in Asia-Pacific Region: throughout promotion of free exchange of knowledge and cooperation, amounts education, research and development, and industry.
Prof. HAN, Director of Environmental Corrosion Center, IMR, CAS, serving as President of World Corrosion Organization, is a pioneer in China’s studies on magnesium alloy and its corrosion and protection, weathering steels, and nanocomposite coatings.
Prof. HAN serves as an editorial member for a number of international journals in the field of corrosion and materials research, such as Corrosion Science, Materials and Corrosion, Metals and Materials International, The Journal of Progress in Natural Science: Materials International, Acta Metallurgica Sinica, Journal of Chinese Society of Corrosion and Protection, etc.
Prof. HAN received various awards and honors including the Ho-Leung-Ho-Lee Technology Science Award, Ryukiti Hasiguti Foundation Prize, Fellow of NACE International, Distinguished Scientist from Chinese Association for Science and Technology.
