The 32nd SYNL Colloquium on Mechanical Behaviors of Materials Held in IMR

2017-10-25

The 32nd SYNL Colloquium on Mechanical Behaviors of Materials was held on October 13, 2017 in Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS).

Prof. HAN Weizhong from Xi'an Jiaotong University was the key speaker of the Colloquium and delivered a lecture entitled “Design of Strong and Ductile Small- Volume Al alloys”. He reviewed the recent progress on the research of material plasticity deformation mechanism in submicron level. He also introduced the composite material of metal and its parent oxide his team invented which has much superior strength.

Prof. LU Lei from Materials Fatigue and Fracture Division delivered a lecture entitled “History-Independent Cyclic Response of Nanotwinned Cu”. Two other reports were also delivered on the colloquium entitled “Functional Gradients in Biological and Bioinspired Materials” by Associate Prof. LIU Zengqian and “Mechanical Properties and Toughening Mechanisms of Crossed-Lamellar Structures in Biological Shells” by doctoral student JI Hongmei of IMR.

The SYNL Colloquium on Mechanical Behaviors of Materials is a major academic lecture series of Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science (SYNL), IMR, CAS. Numerous scientists from home and abroad attend the colloquium annually. It has been held 32 times since 2010.
