The Advanced Metal Forming Technologies Joint Laboratory of Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS) and Physical-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (PTI, NASB) was established in Shenyang on October 25, 2017.
Prof. YANG Rui, the Director of IMR and Prof. Vladimir Petrenko, the Director of Special Rolling Laboratory of PTI, delivered congratulation addresses on the opening ceremony.
The Advanced Metal Forming Technologies Joint Laboratory is expected to make contributions to the field of advanced plastic forming theory and its application based on IMR and PTI’s technology advantages on cross wedge rolling, impact hydraulic forming and the R&D of new materials.
Prof. ZHANG Shihong of IMR, the Director of the Advanced Metal Forming Technologies Joint Laboratory and Associate Prof. CHENG Ming of IMR, signed a new cooperation memorandum with Prof. Vladimir Petrenko and Prof. Arturu Pokrovsky, the Director of Impact hydroforming Laboratory of PTI.
The Advanced Metal-Forming Technology team of IMR focus on R&D of advanced metal-forming technologies, new principles, novel techniques, and new equipment regarding steels, superalloys, titanium alloys, magnesium alloys, aluminum alloys, and metal matrix composites. They’ve been collaborating with PTI on cross wedge rolling of superalloys and high speed impact hydraulic forming of board and pipe since 2012. IMR and PTI signed the agreement of establishing the Advanced Metal Forming Technologies Joint Laboratory to foster their cooperation in May, 2017.
During the visit, Prof. Vladimir Petrenko and Prof. Arturu Pokrovsky also visited Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science (SYNL) and the Advanced Metal-Forming Technology group of Shenyang R & D Center for Advanced Materials.
