The 34th SYNL Colloquium on Mechanical Behaviors of Materials was held on April 20, 2018 in Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS).
Prof. LUO Haiwen from University of Science and Technology Beijing was the key speaker of the Colloquium and delivered a lecture entitled “On characteristics of mechanic response of medium Mn steel during tensile deformation”. He introduced the typical characteristics of Mn steel in quasi-static tensile deformation under the condition of hot rolling and cold rolling in his lecture. Prof. LUO Haiwen is a steel research scientist with almost 20 years’ balanced effort on fundamental and applied research of steels. He is dedicated into commonly observed phenomena in steels for better science and development of new steel grads with specific properties or functions by designing chemistries and processing route.
Associate Prof. PAN Jie from IMR delivered a lecture entitled “Deformation of bulk metallic glasses: strain softening or hardening”. Assistant Prof. ZHANG Long delivered a lecture entitled “Microstructural design and mechanical behaviors of β-type bulk metallic glass composites”. Doctoral student HOU Jiapeng of IMR also delivered a report named “Designing Al conductor with high strength and high electrical conductivity” on the colloquium.
The SYNL Colloquium on Mechanical Behaviors of Materials is a major academic lecture series of Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science (SYNL), IMR, CAS. Numerous scientists from home and abroad attend the colloquium annually. It has been held 34 times since 2010.
