The recipient of 2017 Lee Hsun Lecture Series—Lee Hsun Lecture Award, Prof. Andrea Carlo Ferrari from University of Cambridge visited Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS) from June 22 to 24, 2018.
During the visit, Prof. Ferrari delivered a lecture entitled “The Roadmap to Applications of Graphene, Layered Materials and Hybrid Systems”. In his lecture, he overviewed the progress in the applications of grapheme, layered materials and hybrid systems. He also demonstrated their future roadmap which can revolutionize multiple industries.
Prof. Ferrari is the Director of the Cambridge Graphene Centre and of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Graphene Technology. He is Professorial Fellow of Pembroke College. He is the founding Director of the Cambridge Graphene Centre. He is Fellow of Pembroke College, Cambridge, Fellow of the American Physical Society, and Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award Holder. He is also the Chairman of the Executive Board of the EU Graphene Flagship.
Prof. Ferrari research interests include nanomaterials growth, modelling, characterization, and devices. In particular, he focuses on graphene, nanotubes, diamond-like carbon, and nanowires for applications in electronics and photonics. He has been recognized by numerous international awards for his contributions including ACS Nano Award Lectureship, Charles E. Pettinos Award and European Research Council Synergy Award.
