The 2019 International Symposium of Biotechnology on Biomaterials, Stem cells and Tissue engineering (ISBBST) was held during July 14-17, 2019, in Shenyang, China. The symposium is co-sponsored by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Journal of Materials Science & Technology (JMST).

The theme of this symposium is “the innovation and development of biomaterials and biotechnology”. Numerous world-famous scientists and scholars were invited to communicate and collaborate on the outlook and challenge in the field of biomaterials and biotechnology. There were also several seminars focused on medical metal materials and additive manufacturing, nano-medical material, biomedical polymer material and biomechanics.

The prior ISBBST conferences were held in Taiwan (2017) and Chengdu (2018) with approximate 100 scientists from China, USA, South Korea, Japan, Australia andother countries. Research achievements in diverse areas of biomaterials andtissue engineering were presented. Selected papers were recommended to a special issue of JMST.
