The recipient of 2020 Lee Hsun Lecture Series—Lee Hsun Lecture Award, Prof. Qiming Zhang from the Pennsylvania State University, visited Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS) from May 18 to 20，2023. 

During the visit, Prof. Qiming Zhang gave a lecture entitled "Electrocaloric Cooling for A Sustainable World". Prof. Qiming Zhang presented the advancements in the EC materials and solid-state EC cooling devices, especially, the recent breakthroughs in the EC materials that generate giant electrocaloric effect at ultra-low electric fields and their related EC devices. The lecture received a warm response from the researchers and graduate students, and there was a lively discussion with Prof. Qiming Zhang on ferroelectric materials and their applications in the field of energy utilization. 

During the visit, Prof. Qiming Zhang had academic exchanges with researchers from the Functional Materials and Devices Pision of the Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science, and discussed the future development trends in the field of phase change refrigeration materials and devices. 

Prof. Qiming Zhang is currently a chair professor of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of the Pennsylvania State University, a Fellow of the American Physical Society and an IEEE Fellow. He received his B.S. degree in Radio Physics from Nanjing University in 1981, and his Ph.D. degree in Solid State Physics from the Pennsylvania State University in 1986. Since 1992, he has been an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor and Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. He has received several important awards, including Humboldt Research Award and Penn State Faculty Scholar Medal. To date, he has published more than 460 papers with an H-factor of 82, and holds more than 20 granted patents, some of which have been commercialized.
