Prof. Yves Bamberger, Member of the French National Institute of Technology visited Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS) from April 23 to 24, 2024.

During the visit, Academician Yves Bamberger had a detailed understanding of IMR’s history, development and current research fields, and had in-depth exchanges with Academician LI Dianzhong's team.

Academician LI Dianzhong introduced the cooperation between IMR and Electricite De France (EDF) to Academician Yves Bamberger. Academician Yves Bamberger expressed his appreciation for the cooperation between the two sides and hoped to continue to expand the cooperation in the future. He also visited the Laboratory of Energy Conversion Materials and the laboratory of Advanced Steel Materials Division.

Prof. Yves Bamberger is a member of the French National Institute of Technology, formerly Vice president of the French National Institute of Technology. He has worked for a long time in EDF Group, one of the world's largest power supply service providers, as the president's scientific research adviser, research and development director. Academician Yves Bamberger has been committed to research on energy issues, and has carried out a series of work in the fields of energy structure transformation, power system reform, power generation and energy storage, and information. In 2022, Academician Yves Bamberger served as the steering member of the Energy Committee of the Council of International Academies of Engineering and Technology (CAETS), and organized nearly 100 academicians from more than 20 different national academies of engineering to carry out research on the policy, industry, technology and other trends and needs of energy end-user decarbonization in the context of climate change. A systematic analysis of the low-carbon transition in key areas such as agriculture, smart cities, oil and gas industry, chemical industry, cement industry, steel industry and information industry was carried out, and the important role of green electricity and hydrogen energy was discussed. The research report was published on the websites of the Council of International Academy of Engineering and Technology and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
