On September 25, Dr. Yunnan Gao, President of the Institute of Corrosion (ICorr) in the UK, visited the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS). During the visit, he delivered two academic lectures titled "Introduction to the Institute of Corrosion (ICorr)" and "Corrosion Management in Oil and Gas Production Facilities from a UK Operator’s Perspective". The presentations highlighted ICorr and corrosion management measures in the UK oil and gas industry. Following the lectures, he toured relevant laboratories and engaged in detailed discussions on potential future collaborations.

Dr. Yunnan Gao is a Chartered Engineer and Scientist in the UK, a Fellow of the Institute of Corrosion (ICorr), a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3), and a Corrosion Specialist certified by the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) in the United States. In 2024, he was elected as the first Chinese President of the Institute of Corrosion (ICorr).
