According to the newly released list of elected academicians for the 2025 Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) election, Prof. HU Wenping, a 1993 alumnus of the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS) and current Executive Vice President of Tianjin University, has been elected as an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Prof. HU Wenping, born in May 1970 has long been dedicated to the research of organic semiconductor physics and chemistry. He stands as one of the leading academic figures in China’s organic semiconductor crystal engineering and field-effect transistor device physics. He earned his bachelor's degree from Hunan University, his master’s degree from IMR, and his doctoral degree from the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He furthered his research through collaborations at Osaka University in Japan and the University of Stuttgart in Germany. In 2003, he was selected for the CAS-level talent recruitment program and returned to China to pursue his scientific career.
Since 2013, Prof. HU has been serving at Tianjin University, holding positions such as Assistant to the President and Dean of the College of Science, Vice President, and since 2021, Executive Vice President, while consistently remaining active in teaching and research. Focusing on the frontier of "organic integrated circuits," he has established a distinctive research system encompassing "high-mobility materials, high-performance devices, and organic integrated circuits." As the first contributor, he has twice received the State Natural Science Award (Second Class) and has been honored with major awards including the Tianjin Natural Science Special Prize and First Prize.
