The Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS) held its 2nd Alumni Report Meeting and Forum on June 6, with 92 alumni participating in the event.
Kicking off with the 2025 Graduation Ceremony, alumni shared the joy of graduating students and revisited their academic years. Following the ceremony, they visited the IMR Science and Technology Exhibition Hall, the large forging workshop, and laboratories of the Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science, gaining firsthand insight into the institute's latest progress.
In the afternoon, a forum blending tradition and innovation was held. Prof. ZHANG Zhefeng presided over the forum, during which seven alumni representatives shared their professional achievements and experiences in different fields, reflecting IMR's enduring tradition of excellence.
At the discussion session, IMR Director Prof. LIU Gang gave a comprehensive overview of IMR's recent accomplishments in tackling major scientific challenges, achieving important technological breakthroughs, and advancing overall development. The participants engaged in in-depth exchanges on crucial issues such as scientific innovation, talent cultivation, graduate education, and technology transfer, offering suggestions for the institute's future growth.
In closing remarks, Party Committee Secretary and Deputy Director Prof. CHEN Xingqiu expressed sincere gratitude to all attendees. He emphasized that IMR remains closely connected to its alumni no matter where they are, and that their dedication and support serve as an invaluable foundation for the institute's continuous pursuit of scientific excellence and contribution to social development needs.
