The National Engineering Research Center for High Performance Homogenized Alloys, approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, is affiliated to the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and was established from World Bank loans. The center is motivated by the development of materials science and technology and demand for national economic and defense construction. The center seeks to provide R&D and consulting services for new materials and accelerate the transfer of technologies developed at IMR.
The research activities of the center mainly focus on alloy design, materials process modeling, and performance testing. The developed materials include super alloys, aluminum alloys, magnesium alloys, steel, special materials, and composite materials. The research achievements have been widely applied in the equipment manufacturing industry and aerospace, shipbuilding, energy, transportation, medical equipment, and other fields.
